Easterhouse – Contenders (1986) @320

Easterhouse were a British indie rock group from the mid to late 1980s, known for jangly guitars and leftist political leaning.

Named after the Easterhouse area of Glasgow, the band was formed in Stretford, near Manchester by brothers Andy and Ivor PerryPeter VandenGary Rostock and Michael Murray in the early 1980s. Andy Perry, intrigued by communism and inspired by Bob Marley's direct delivery of political content, was invited to join the band in order to improve its lyrical content. Perry's political stance reflected the perspectives of the then active Revolutionary Communist Party, with particular regard to Irish politics.

Family Fodder - Monkey Banana Kitchen (1980) Vinyl Rip @320

Another vinyl rip I found the other day. Yeah was in flac but like the Fire Engines I shared earlier today, but I converted both into 320, easier to post and Flac moved into my Flac HD.

Family Fodder formed around 1975.
Line-up included Alig (John Pearce), Ian Hill, Dominique Levillain, Felix Fiedorowicz, Martin Frederix, Bazz Smith, Graham Painting, Mark Doffmann, Lynn Alice.
Their music incorporated acoustic, soft rock, punk, new wave, reggae, dub, classical and chanson.
Lynn Alice later took the place as lead singer of Dominique Levillain who went into teaching her own creative technique known as Prymary Rhythms (Ryhtmes Premiers).
Rick Wilson and Mick Hobbs (The Work), Charles Bullen, Charles Hayward (This Heat) and David Cunningham or Judy Carter have also collaborated with the group.

My future Posts on Vibes

Well as I am now posting three flac albums every Friday, in the future I won't be posted anything during the weekends. So my posts from now on with only be Monday to Friday. This will leave me the time for other project's I have been involved with for over 15 years. It's not connected to Reggae or Vibes, but about new music and bands, and need to make more time for these project's. I also want to keep Vibes and my other project's separate from each other as they are very different.  Which I have managed to do so far.

Wednesday will be the Rob 'N' Jnr's Reggae mix and then the flac shares on Fridays. All my other posts will be in 320 as in the past. And the other days, just what ever takes my fancy on the day!!

Vibes has done well since it was open last year, growing slowly but steadily. We have member's who want to share their love of many forms of music with other's and this won't ever change, you can request any album you may require for your collection, we will try of fulfil your requests.

Oh by the way if me or Concha posts this 👍on other members post's, it means we already have a copy. If I don't add a comment to a post, it means that I didn't take a copy, we all have different tastes in music. If it's a band I don't know, I take a copy and have a listen. But there are a few genres I don't like at all, American southern rock being one of them.

Terry Reid - 1973 - River

Terry Reid - 1973 - River @320

Very under rated British bluesish vocalist, who was asked by Jimmy Page to be vocalist with his new group which became Led Zep. This is Reid's 1973 album for Atlantic Records, recorded in California and produced by Tom Dowd, with two tracks recorded in London by Eddie Offord. The album contains all original compositions (unusual for Reid) Accompanying Reid, amongst others, are long-time collaborators David Lindley and Alan White. Commercially the record was not a success, but as time has gone by it has been critically reappraised along with Reid's whole career. (Rough Trade)

The Fireman - Three albums in Flac

 Friday Flac

* So here's this weeks Friday Flac post, I am sharing all of the three albums by The Fireman. To date they have only made the three albums.

The Fireman is the moniker given to electronic music experiments created by Paul McCartney and Youth (Martin Glover). In 1993, the duo of McCartney and Youth released its first album, Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest, and followed that with Rushes in 1998. In 2000, Youth also took part in McCartney's similarly styled Liverpool Sound Collage. The duo's most recent album, Electric Arguments, is available on its website, as well as on CD.

The duo borrowed the title "Electric Arguments" from the poem "Kansas City to St. Louis" by Allen Ginsberg. In Wired magazine, McCartney stated this was because "he's been looking at the beauty of word combinations rather than their meaning."

I am a big fan of Youth and all his work, either as an artist or a producer, I am not a fan of  Paul McCartney  at all, but I feel these three albums are some of his best work. I will post the albums in date order.

The Fireman – Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest (1993)

The Fireman – Rushes (1998)

The Fireman – Electric Arguments (2008)

So there we go the links for each album will be included in the comments, I would like to thank Concha for providing me with a true flac copy of Electric Arguments, as mine had half of the tracks  as fake flac. I hope you will enjoy todays post, and hope you will take a listen, I think they that all three album will surprise you, if you don't already know them.

I have already got the post for next week planned, and it has three complete albums of cover versions by Joy Division, Buzzcocks and Kraftwerk, another post of very interesting music. So see ya all next Friday for more great flac. I don't really plan ahead my posts but with the Friday Flac posts, I have been doing so.

Howlin' Wolf - 2007 - The Definitive Collection

Howlin' Wolf - 2007 - The Definitive Collection @320

At six foot three and 270 pounds, Chester Burnett was a bear of a man, but his voice, rough and harsh as broken Delta glass, was what really gave him dimension. A powerful blues shouter out of the Charley Patton mold, Burnett (or Howlin' Wolf, as he came to be known) brought a feral fire to his vocals that made him sound like a gale force hurricane in front of the microphone. But he was far from a loose cannon. He had remarkable control over that voice, as the first track from this wonderful collection of his classic Chess sides makes clear. "Moanin' at Midnight," recorded in 1958 for Sam Phillips (Phillips promptly sold the master to Chicago's Chess Records), is nothing more than an amped-up and electrified field holler, but Wolf's subtle, wordless vocal phrasing makes it carry enough pain, suffering, pride, desperation, and resignation to fill the world to breaking, all in a single rocking performance that hits like a brick to the head. The Chess brothers recorded Wolf frequently in the next dozen or so years, wisely pairing him with guitarist Hubert Sumlin and bassist/songwriter Willie Dixon more often than not, and Wolf's output for the label between 1958 and 1964 forms the core of one of the greatest legacies in the history of the blues. All of his key Chess singles are here, including "Smokestack Lightning," his redefinitions of the Mississippi Sheiks' "Sittin' on Top of the World" and Skip James' "Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues" (reborn as "Killing Floor" in Wolf's hands), and his signature versions of Dixon's "Backdoor Man," "Spoonful," "The Red Rooster," and "I Ain't Superstitious," making this set a marvelous introduction to one of the most powerful voices in recorded history. What you need to hear is here. [The Definitive Collection contains the same tracks as the 1997 MCA release His Best]. (AllMusic)
